Details
The XD-5 is Arai's adventure helmet, completely redesigned from the XD-4. It is built for the rider whose trip mixes highway, back roads and dirt, and who wants one helmet for all of it. This one wears the Nation (Italy) graphic.
You can run it three ways: shield only for the street, peak only with your goggles off-road, or shield and peak together for true ADV riding. The VAS-A Max Vision shield comes off without tools and the peak uses a single screw on each side. Arai's manual warns the peak is not meant for high-speed use, so take it off for long, fast highway days.
Airflow is a big step up. The mouth shutter opening is double the size of the XD-4's, and an inner shutter lets you aim that air at your mouth or at the shield to fight fogging. A front logo vent keeps air coming whether you sit up or tuck in, and the AR spoiler pulls hot air from the crown. A retractable air flap under the chin cuts wind from below.
For comms, the Hyper-Ridge has flat sides for mounting a unit, the speaker pockets are deep and wide with a hook and loop panel, and the neck roll has a pocket for spare wiring. The liner is odor and stain resistant with removable 5mm micro-fit foam, a Pinlock insert comes in the box, the fit is Intermediate Oval, and it is DOT and Snell M2020 certified.
