Best Mods for the BMW R1300 GS Adventure

The R1300 GS Adventure comes out of Berlin more capable than most riders will ever use — and still, the first month of ownership ends with a parts list. This is ours: everything below is stocked here, installed here, and run on our own 1300s.

1 · Auxiliary lighting — do it once, on the CAN bus

The 1300's electronics flag anything they don't recognize, so skip the relay-and-fuse-tap era. The CANsmart plugs into the factory accessory connector and runs four circuits natively — pods dim with low beam, full output on high beam, flash with the horn. Pods: the D7 PRO is the crowd favorite — interchangeable lenses and serious reach — with the D4 as the wide-punch value pick. Mount on the model-specific upper bracket — bolt-on, no drilling.

2 · Rear visibility — the direction nobody upgrades

Everyone spends forward; the guy texting behind you is the actual threat. The T3-S pods add rear running lights and real turn signals with intensity the stock units can't touch — and they mount on the license-plate bracket, so the two go on together.

3 · Horn — the cheapest safety mod that works

The stock horn apologizes; the SoundBomb announces. 120 dB, tucked behind the beak on the R1300-specific split mount, still on the factory button via the CANsmart's horn circuit.

4 · Cockpit — navigation and power

Two philosophies. Glass cockpit: the CHIGEE AIO-6 Max brings CarPlay/Android Auto plus front-and-rear dashcam — on a BMW it mounts through the quick-release module, so they go on together. Prefer your phone? Quad Lock — and on a big twin the vibration dampener is not optional unless your phone's camera is disposable.

5 · Comms — the GSA is a two-up, all-day bike

Packtalk Pro is the top of the mesh food chain — auto on/off, crash detection, Sound by JBL. The Edge gives up a little of that for sixty dollars less.

6 · Camera — proof, or it didn't happen

The X5 bundle ships with the mounts that matter. 8K 360 means you frame the shot after the ride.

The order we'd do it in: CANsmart first — it's the foundation. Lights and horn the same weekend since the bodywork's already off. Rear kit next, cockpit when the budget recovers, camera when the roads get good. Free shipping on orders $50+ — and if you're local, we install what we sell.
