Why riders pick it
- Intermediate Oval interior shape
- 3D Arai logo duct, only 3.5mm deep, feeds two 10mm intake ports and channels about 40% more airflow at 31mph
- Logo duct opens and closes with a short-stroke lever that works with summer or winter gloves, and breaks away in an impact
- One-piece rear spoiler and exhaust, inspired by the Corsair-X DF-X2 and redesigned for touring, reduces buffeting at highway speeds
- Three-position sliding air-scoop chin vent with a replaceable filter and a glove-friendly actuator
- Designed to fit an intercom on the shell exterior without compromising the EPS liner, with flat shell sides for mounting
- Stitched opening in the neck roll to tuck away excess intercom wiring
- VAS-V shield mechanism; one dual-function lever releases the side pod and shield pin for easy shield changes
- Shell flares 5mm around the opening, making it easier to get on and off
- PB-cLc2 shell with an extra layer of Super Fiber belting

Details
The Contour-X is Arai's modern sport-touring full-face. Arai aimed it at riders who want race-derived performance and all-day comfort on the road, and it is the Arai to look at if you ride long days with an intercom.
The first thing you see is the 3D Arai logo on the forehead. It is actually an intake duct, and Arai says it channels about 40% more air at 31mph, which helps at low speed and in an upright riding position. The lever works with winter gloves. Out back, a one-piece spoiler and exhaust borrowed from the Corsair-X and redesigned for touring smooths airflow and cuts buffeting when you pull out to pass on the highway.
Comms are part of the design: the shell has flat sides from an extra layer of Super Fiber belting so an intercom mounts cleanly on the outside without cutting into the EPS, and there is a stitched pocket in the neck roll to hide spare wiring. The chin vent is a three-position air scoop with a replaceable filter.
The VAS-V shield releases with one lever, and the shell flares 5mm at the opening to make it easier to pull on. Interior shape is Intermediate Oval, the shell is PB-cLc2, and it is DOT and Snell M2020 certified. Want a simpler comfort helmet? Look at the Regent-X. Want Arai's flagship for faster riding? The Corsair-X.
