AGV Pista GP RR Limited Edition Catalunya 2008 Full Face Motorcycle Helmet

The AGV Pista GP RR Catalunya 2008 is a limited edition from AGV's Vale's Helmets project. It replicates the helmet Valentino Rossi wore at the 2008 Catalunya Grand Prix, nicknamed Football for its white-hexagon, black-pentagon pattern, worn as a good luck charm for Italy's team at Euro 2008.

The Pista GP RR is the helmet AGV builds for MotoGP, sold to the rest of us with no difference in construction. It carries FIM homologation, which tests impact protection and rotational acceleration of the head and is required to race in MotoGP. It also passes ECE 22.06 and DOT. This is a track and fast-road helmet for riders who want the top of the range.

The shell is 100% carbon fiber in four sizes over a five-density EPS liner, 1,450 g in the smallest shell. The vents and extractors are metal alloy (aluminum, copper and magnesium), and the visor mechanisms are pared back so the carbon covers as much of your head as possible. The detachable PRO Spoiler is shaped to work with the aerodynamic hump on a race suit, and AGV says the helmet cancels its dynamic weight at about 100 mph.

The Ultravision visor is up to 5 mm thick and optic class 1, with 190 degrees horizontal and 85 degrees vertical view, so you can see out even when tucked in. A Pinlock 120XLT MaxVision insert is included. The 360 Adaptive Fit system lets you change crown, cheek and neck padding thickness, and the kit is in the box along with a hydration system, tear-off kit and vent covers. The strap is a titanium Double D.

If you ride the road more than the track, the K6 S gives you a light carbon-aramid shell for less money. The Pista GP RR is for riders who want the FIM race helmet itself.
